Colorado resident Christina Giroux is an award-winning artist who has enjoyed painting all her life. Born and raised in New York, she moved to Colorado to live in a place which holds enduring interest and inspiration for her art. Inspired by the rhythm, movement, contrasts and patterns in nature, Chris works with a wide variety of mixed mediums. Her subject matter and her style may often vary from representational to abstract impressionism, with unique textured surfaces creating depth, dimension, space and form.
Chris began her career with a minor in art history in college but worked in retail management and human resources for twenty-five years while painting and teaching part-time. She has taught adult art classes for figure skating, drawing, portraiture, and oil painting. Several years ago, she left the corporate world to devote herself to her art full time.
“Art has been a constant for me all of my life. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t draw or paint. Even when I have ignored or neglected it, my quest for nature’s beauty never ceases. For me, art is a reward, a compulsion, and sometimes a source of frustration when trying to reproduce nature’s boundless wildlife’, also commissioned work is a wonderful challenge when I can enjoy the discovery process of developing someone else’s ideas into a visual construction”, she says.
Her work has been shown in juried national and international exhibitions and has received many awards. It is displayed in Hospitals, Business Offices, Apartment buildings, and private residences both domestically and abroad. Her many commissioned pieces have included murals, portraits, landscapes, wildlife, and domestic animals, and religious art.
Chris currently resides in the mountains of Colorado near Grand Lake.
